Electronic Arts announced that it was postponing its announcement Madden NFL 21 for Monday, due to riots in American cities.
This coming week was the start of many game announcements that were previously scheduled for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), but the announcement of the Madden NFL 20 account on Twitter suggests that the nation may be too focused on the riots that started. by the death of African-American George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who was arrested.
EA has not set a new date for the postponed event.
The unrest has continued in Minneapolis and other US cities for five days, and if it continues, I think we can expect more of these events to be postponed. Sony unveils PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4. The gaming industry had to cancel or postpone many events during the pandemic, but this is the first event related to the American protests and what some call the “racism virus” in the USA.
If the unrest continues and more events need to be postponed, more of the better-prepared plans of publishers and marketers will be thrown into disarray. In an email, an EA spokesperson said the company has nothing more to reveal at the moment.
