Tyler “Ninja“Blevins announced today Ninja Battles with Fortnite, a new series of competitive games, presented on May 28 on Microsoft Mixer streaming platform. Confirmed participants include Nick Eh 30, Bugha, Ewok, NateHill, Reverse2K, among many others who will face Ninja each week.
The show marks the first series of live events to be hosted on the Ninja Mixer channel and will feature 60 of the world’s best Fortnite players and personalities competing to win a $ 400,000 prize pool. This is an example that celebrity streams related to e-sport can still be organized during the pandemic in a form only online.
Ninja defected from Twitch, a platform that he helped cement (and also cement) as the largest live broadcast platform, at Mixer in August 2019. Its audience has shrunk over time, and it now counts 3 million subscribers and 63 million views.
Fans will be able to watch live broadcasts from six online tournaments until July in shows featuring top players and famous competitors. Popular competitive Fortnite casters BallaTW and MonsterDface will provide live commentary for each competition.
Throughout the series, each streamer will be filmed at home and on the platform of their choice. Ninja Battles with Fortnite is the first series produced by Ninja for Mixer since joining the platform. The show is a collaboration between Ninja and its Loaded management team, to create additional entertainment opportunities for its community.
Ninja said in a statement that it was achieving its goal when it joined Mixer to push the boundaries with new types of content and streaming interaction.
The tournaments will begin on Thursday, May 28 with new episodes airing each week at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Competitor streamers will also broadcast the tournament from their individual channels.
