An amazing new detail arrives in the last Half-life: Alyx update: bottles now contain liquid.
No, seriously, it’s pretty impressive.
Update 1.4 adds incredibly compelling liquid effects to the many bottles strewn across the streets of City 17. Some developers from Valve have shown the effect in action, with liquid that moves realistically as you twist and turn the bottles in your hand. In addition, when a large part of your game takes place in a vodka distillery, it really helps to increase immersion.
It’s just a small detail but it adds a lot. We can’t help but wonder if Valve is planning other similar additions to the game in the coming months. What would you like to see?

Elsewhere, this update adds new functionality to the Recently launched workshop functionality for modding. In addition, there are fixes for a few crash cases. Fans around the world will also be delighted to see the official subtitles for Brazilian, Czech, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
Alyx remains one of our favorite VR games of the year and an impressive achievement in triple-A VR design.
