Nintendo has a surprise for Mario fans. The editor is working on a new Mario paper game, and it will soon be launched for Nintendo Switch. Paper Mario: The Origami King debuts on July 17 with a whole new story and new characters for $ 60. And Nintendo revealed the game in a two-minute trailer, which you can watch by clicking play above.
Paper Mario: The Origami King brings back the two-dimensional plumber from previous games. This time, however, he is fighting “an origami threat,” according to Nintendo. And this threat has already gone beyond familiar territory, including Princess Peach’s castle. The trailer opens with an origami Peach who threatens Mario by asking him to bow in respect. When Mario refuses, she throws him into a pit.
But this game doesn’t just have a new enemy. Mario will also have a new partner named Olivia. It’s a good piece of origami – and here I thought all origami was evil! But Mario and Olivia will also receive help from the Toads and even a folded version of Bowser.
In terms of gameplay, Mario will also acquire the 1000-Fold Arms ability. This gives the hero stretch arms to solve puzzles and more.
Paper Mario: The Origami King is the game “Traditional Paper Mario” which I referred in my March report to the Nintendo release schedule. Nintendo suddenly canceled the announcement and apart from a Direct because the company is struggling with the transition from working from home.
But Nintendo obviously has games in the works. Intelligent Systems only supervised the production of Tecmo Koei from Fire Emblem: Three Houses because he worked there. Other Nintendo studios will also have games ready for release soon. This includes the 3D Mario remasters, but it should also include Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
