Sony Interactive Entertainment was preparing for a series of events to promote PlayStation 5. The first presentation would focus on games on June 4, but Sony is now postponing this event to a later date. The company does not want to push what is essentially a big advertisement for a luxury of consumption whereas the demonstrators of the whole world rise up against police brutality.
Here is Sony’s full statement:
“We have decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4. While we understand that players around the world are thrilled to see PS5 games, we don’t think it’s time to celebrate. And for now, we want to step back and allow more important voices to be heard. “
This statement is in addition to a first tweet speaking in favor of the Black Lives Matter movement.
